UNWINDER Mounted on an electro-welded steel base designed to support the coil in the working position, it consists of a mandrel supported on bearings and equipped with a hydraulically operated concentric expansion device. Rotation is achieved through the traction exerted on the strip by the leveling machine; it incorporates a pneumatic brake to maintain the strip at the correct tension for centering with the leveling machine. It features a loading carriage for inserting the coil onto the mandrel; this carriage is mounted over a pit, and both its lifting and translational movements are hydraulic. Open mandrel: 520 mm Min. closed mandrel: 480 mm FEED AND PRE-STRAIGHTENING UNIT It consists of an electro-welded steel structure that supports both the feed rollers and the pre-straightening rollers, the motor, and the gearbox. The two feed rollers are vulcanized and ground with rubber for better traction when the strip is fed into the flattening unit. The upper roller is driven vertically by two hydraulic cylinders, which apply pressure during the feeding process. The pre-straightening rollers are responsible for performing preliminary straightening, particularly on thick materials, to ensure better results in the final flattening carried out by the flattening unit; they consist of five rollers, three lower and two upper. The two upper rollers are each driven independently by two hydraulic cylinders that apply pressure to the strip for pre-flattening before it enters the flattening machine. The pre-straightening rollers are made of heat-treated and ground F521 non-deformable steel. FLATTENING MACHINE DESCRIPTION It is divided into three parts. 1. Flattening unit 2. Drive unit for the 17 flattening rollers. 3. Drives. Flattening Unit: A welded steel bed designed to withstand the pressures exerted on the lower rollers; in this case, there are nine rollers. These rollers are in turn supported by three rows of counter-rollers that, via independent spindles, cause the deformation of the lower rollers for proper flattening. The counter-rollers are operated mechanically. The eight upper rollers in this case are supported on the upper body of the bed structure. This body is driven by two spindles and their corresponding vertical gear motor to achieve penetration into the web for proper flattening. The body supporting the upper rollers can be tilted toward the strip to exert more pressure on the section where the strip enters. This maneuver is also performed by its gear motor unit, which is electrically controlled. Both the upper and lower rollers are made of heat-treated and ground F-521 steel. DRIVE UNIT It consists of an electro-welded steel housing containing the various components of the gearbox for driving the flattener’s rollers. This housing has 17 output shafts for connecting the drives that rotate the flattener’s rollers—one for each roller, both upper and lower. All of this—both the gearbox and the roller mill rollers—is driven by a DC motor. It is equipped with a variable speed drive, which allows the machine’s speed to be automatically adjusted to the different speeds required for rolling, as well as the quality and thickness of the strip being processed. FLATTENING TABLE It consists of an electro-welded steel loop-shaped structure and star-shaped grooved rubber wheels designed to ensure the strip slides smoothly during the automatic process, while also allowing material to accumulate in front of the shear when the strip stops during the cutting operation. SHEAR It consists of an electro-welded steel base that supports the bridge, the blade holder, as well as the lower part of the shaft that moves the cutting rods and the electro-pneumatic clutch that activates the band cut. The blades are adjustable in distance via a mechanical control to adapt to different strip thicknesses. MEASURING TABLE: This is an electro-welded steel structure on which two independent conveyors are mounted; these conveyors are responsible for transporting the cut strip to the stacking area. A carriage containing all the pneumatic and mechanical accessories for the measuring process is also mounted on it. The cutting distance is set via a mechanical control using a rack and pinion and a handwheel. STACKING TABLE AND OUTPUT ROLLERS This is an electro-welded steel structure that supports both the side plates and the length stop carriage for forming the bundle. The exit rollers are arranged on two independent tables, one of which is height-adjustable via gearboxes and lead screws; this entire process is fully automatic without operator intervention. Once the bundle is formed, the two tables are raised to the same height to transfer the finished bundle to the second table for subsequent strapping and removal without having to stop production on the line.
